An Uneventful Friday the 13th!

I have to say that waking up to another Friday the 13th was not something I was too excited to do today.  Why?  Well, 3 months ago today, our lives were changed forever.  At the time, we didn't know what that change was going to be, but only knew that things would never be the same again.  Three months ago today, Ryland "crashed."  We have since joked that we aren't really sure if 13 is his unlucky number or his lucky number.  On that day, he almost left this world, but thanks to the efforts of several wonderful doctors, many wonderful nurses and paramedics, and God he lived!  So on one hand, I was afraid what another Friday the 13th could have in store for us, but on the other, I knew that whatever this day could hold we would be just fine.  Ultimately, today ended up being just another Friday!  We do have to celebrate the fact that 3 months ago today, Ryland lived.  I am so thankful that today was an uneventful Friday and that our biggest concern today was whether he was going to poop or not!

On the 3 month anniversary of that day, we want to again thank everyone that prayed for us that day and sent their good thoughts our way.  As Beth said several times during our Caring Bridge days, prayer does work!  We also want to again thank everyone who took care of Ryland that day, epecially Dr. Overby and Dr. Barden for their quick thinking and actions.

Wow! What a difference 3 months can make!

This picture is shortly after we arrived at Duke.

This video shows Ryland today "tasting" Mommy's apple!  I think he is going to like them just like I do!

This picture shows Ryland being a "big" boy sitting up in his bumpo chair. He loves sitting up now although he does have some resemblance to Steve Wonder playing the piano.  But he is getting better control of his head everyday!
