1 Month Old!

Originally written May 2, 2012 10:46pm

Ryland is one month old today.  In the grand scheme of life, one month seems so small, yet April 2012 turned out to be HUGE for this family.

It is a miracle that baby Ryland has reached this milestone in his little life, the first of what we are sure will be many more.

Ryland was already destined to be spoiled and loved infinitely before all of this happened, but I think the definition of spoiled rotten may take on a whole new level now.  We keep joking that he has been essentially naked, in just a diaper, for a month and will never want to wear clothes!

Not to mention, we seem to forget that he has plenty of nice and fun toys, clothes, etc... at home.  So we end up buying him something new pretty much every time we go to visit!

And ... as if Robin doesn't hold him enough (with Michael and a few others getting short turns here and there) the nurses have now taken to snuggling with the little dude.  Robin woke up yesterday morning and Ryland wasn't in the room.  Turns out the nurses had taken him and were passing him around for an hour or so, just holding him!  He's quite the popular kid on campus.

Ryland did a bit better with feeding and reflux yesterday.  He even managed to gain a tiny bit of weight!  They started him on a medicine, Regalin, to help with digestion.  We hope this is helping.

He experienced a little more vomiting today, but they tried adding formula to his milk.  They are basically just doing a trial and error approach until they figure out exactly what the little guy needs in order to eat and keep milk down.

We are hoping that if he does well over the next few days, he may be able to go home by the weekend!!!

Talk about a strong little Superman, going home two weeks after heart surgery!

He's unstoppable!
