Ryland's first night as a Blue Devil was a good one!
Robin was able to stay with him last night and Michael got a good night's sleep at the hotel next door. Visitation and access to Ryland is more restricted here at Duke, but the doctors and nurses are as wonderful as all the stories you hear. They even let us put some of Ryland's stuffed animals, room decorations and even his "Future Blue Devil" banner on his bed!
He continues to be in stable condition, but his liver functions are still elevated. That means the doctors want to give him even more time to heal before his heart surgery.
They are considering removing his breathing tube today or tomorrow if all continues to go well.
Mom, Dad, and Michael's parents are all here. While this is a huge hospital, we are spending our time in quite the tiny waiting room.
Ryland's color, temp and oxygen are all much improved over yesterday.
The doctors are saying it will be at least Wednesday before his surgery. We will let you know as soon as we have more details.
As always your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
