Robin and Michael got to meet the surgeon today. He went
over the surgical procedure and what we should expect for recovery.
They are planning to start the surgery around 9 am, and could take anywhere from 4-6 hours for him to be done. They will connect the two portions of his aortic arch and patch the hole between the aorta and pulmonary artery.
It sounds really scary but this surgeon is the best of the best. He even did Ryland's cousin Claire's heart surgery last year.
The doctor said our stay at Duke could last anywhere from two weeks to a month, just depends on how well Ryland does after tomorrow.
We will most certainly be scared come morning and it will be hard to watch the docs take our brave little guy back, but we continue to find comfort and strength in the support of all of you who are reading this and sending your love.
