Holding Steady

Originally written Apr 16, 2012 10:17am

Just got off the phone with Robin. Ryland is still holding his own this morning. The doctors came by for rounds and now Robin and Michael are taking a shower/breakfast break while Michael's parents stay with the baby.

His liver functions are improved from yesterday and they are definitely going to attempt to remove his breathing tube today.  He really doesn't like it, and they ran a test that shows he should be able to breath enough on his own without it until the surgery.

There are studies that show if he can be off the tube and go into surgery breathing on his own, with the tube reinserted during and after surgery, the outcome and recovery results are significantly improved.

Docs are looking at Thursday now for the surgery.  It's a moving target, as they work to get him in the best shape possible before taking him in.

As always, your thoughts, prayers and messages of courage and hope are greatly appreciated.  We hope this site makes it easy for you to keep up with the little guy.

He's already such a brave little fighter.  We know God gave us a very special baby meant for great things in his future.
